WHO AM I?
I grew up in Southern California in a town called Grand Terrace. At that time it was a small community that was surrounded by orange groves. Not like that anymore.
From the time I became a believer, I have served the church. First at the church I received Christ at, which was Colton Church of the Nazarene. Next was Trinity Christian Center where I served under the leadership of Bob Fitts Jr. as a part of the youth leadership team and worship leader of youth and Sunday night services. After Bob moved to Hawaii to join Youth With A Mission I became the Worship Leader there for a few years. Then I left for Youth With A Mission in Amsterdam and completed a Discipleship training school there. When I came back I plugged into a church called Oasis Christian Fellowship in Grand Terrace and served as a worship leader in small groups and did special music. From there I was asked to lead worship at a church in Woodcrest California called Oasis Christian Fellowship of Woodcrest where I faithfully served until 2001. Then my family moved to Bishop, California where I am today and have been serving for 9 years now.
I met my wife Cathy in Amsterdam and we have been married for 21 years. We have 5 kids; oldest is Carlie, then Michelle, Cody, Cassie and last but certainly not least, Shelby.
MY STORY
I came to Christ when I was 18, it was my senior year at Colton High. My friend and I met a couple of girls that went to church. We were convinced that we could get them away from church so we pursued them. I had no idea God was pursuing me. One night I came face to face with this huge hole or vacuum I had in my chest. I needed answers and didn’t know where to turn. At that point I didn’t believe God existed but if I was wrong I challenged God (big mistake) to prove Himself to me. And God being the God that He is took me up on that challenge and the rest is history.
I have no formal education except some college level courses I have taken over some 30 years of walking with Christ. My education has come from a passionate desire to know God through devotion to His word and serving in the church. I have committed my life to His service wherever that takes me and my family. I did complete a DTS with Youth With A Mission which consisted of 3 months of intense bible and mission training. From there we spent 3 months in Africa working with the local youth pastors and helping them in many different ways.
MY JOURNEY
My hope and goal is that I will become a man that achieves the purpose God has created me for. That is to glorify Him and enjoy Him in life. ROM. 11.36. "Of him, and through him, and to him, are all things; to whom be glory for ever." And 1 COR. 10.31. "Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
That is to draw attention to His Greatness and Glory through a life that is completely surrendered to Christ. That is also my hope and goal for CBC. I cannot think of any other purpose that is worth the time or energy.
WHAT I DO AT CBC
I am the Worship/Outreach pastor here at CBC. My duties are to prepare worship music for our worship services and engage our congregation in worship to and communion with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I also look for opportunities within our community to involve our church and communicate the good news of Jesus Christ.
